MDI child forms...

I have an MDI form that has a panel on the left side of it that is holding an outlook bar-type control. I would like to have my child forms open up "maximised" but only in the area NOT under the panel. Is this possible? Does that make any sense??
 
Dock the bar left. Add a splitter(docked left) then open ur form maximized. I havent tried but this should do it..
 
Splitter...DOH!!!

The splitter worked GREAT! Using it, the panel is not even necessary. I guess I just couldn't get out the little tunnel I was looking through. Thank you!
