Installation help

I'm new to .net and can not get past the first installation. Does anyone out there know what the are the exact list of windows components necessary for 2003? Does it support Framework 1.1? I was told it does but it will not install with it...
What am I missing?
 
What I meant to ask was do I have to uninstall my exisitng framework just to re-install the one on cd5 or have i got a setting wrong or another component missing?
 
If you already have Framework version 1.1 installed then it should work, no need to remove it.
If you go through the setup it prompts you to insert the update disc, what happens after that? Do the error logs contain any information?
