e-mail verification

I am looking at designing an aspx project. I want to have the user give me their e-mail address (like a lot of forums that I have seen) then I want to send an e-mail to that address with a generated link taht will send them to another page. Does anyone have a sample of doing this or could anyone point me in the right direction?
