dropdown box problem

is there an update or something that i am missing as i do not seem to be able to change the way my drop down box / combo box appears on the screen for users.

i have applied a theme to the page and all the text boxes and buttons appear fine, but tick boxes and dropdown boxes do not seem to have the option to change there appearence.

What options are open to me?
 
i want to change the border of a drop down box - is this possible? instead of the normal 'sunkern' effect i want solid line black.

is it possible to do this - i for one cant see how, but this supprises me because you can do it on the other input types...
 
This stuff surprises me too. There are a couple of controls where you can'y override windows and change the color of a scrollbar or arrow too.

I've always wondered if there was a way to merge together the properties of two controls, using some funky inheritance or something...
