Datepicker: Null value not working in SQL

I have syntex as follows

If datepicker.value = Null then
something
else
something
end if

The Null does not flow into following line when the value is Null of picker. Checked it when mouse pointer is hovered over datePicker.value. Goes to else line.

Any pointers
