DataGrid misconceptions?

I have yet to use the DataGrid. I use the DataRepeater for 99% of what I do, and the DataList for the rest? Why? I don't like spread sheet web sites. Is this a misconceptions of mine? Basically it appears all you can do is very table-like styles, you are not left with the freedom to make more 'friendly' repeating items as you can with a DataRepeater? Does the DataGrid allow the ability to break away from the 'grid' in a secret way I'm not aware of? I see it being used so often, but it seems like such a dull control...other than for very plain reports I don't see a use for it. Can someone guide my misconceptions or give me some links that have examples of a DataGird that doesn't look like a grid?

Thanks!
