Is there anyway to convert a word document to a pdf document in vb .net without an expensive addin?

I use Altsoft Xml2PDF Workstation for converting word to PDF (and JPG), but i don't know if you can use it as an adding to youy own soft. maybe you shall find more info about this application
 
I've used iTextSharp to print directly to a PDF (not convert from DOC). The documentation is not that great, but I was able to figure things out on my own relatively easily. It definitely took some trial and error.
