I really hate working with that HTML Help Workshop - MS suggest using chm help files in .net apps (and I have done so) but still provide such a poor quality tool to make them with! I really hope they integrate a help compiler in to the IDE at some point - it would be so easy for them to do.
I'd imagine they have a team working on it as we speak. And, Microsoft being Microsoft, they probably have another totally unconnected team working on a new XML based help system that is totally incompatible
I actually wrote one for our old web applications that stored the help in an XML file. It provided everything normal help did and without the need to convert the whole thing to an Access Database when doing a find. Our QA team *loves* it (but what do they know? ) Maybe I should try and sell it to Microsoft, just so that all the previous help file formats are depricated.
OT: I wonder if MS ever tried to buy Robohelp - they integrated MS Word with their own help compiler, something I'm surprised MS didn't try to do first.
