Cache scope

Because the Cache() us an application wide option does that mean that if, for a given user if I stored something in Cache("username") that it will be overlaid everytime anybody else stores something in that same cache item? And if so is there a way to differentiate between items I want cached for a particular session vs. items I want globally cached?
