*.aspx page code is displayed in browser

Hello,

I am brand new to aspdotnet and I installed dotnet framework, and started IIS 5.1 which is there in my windows XP pro system.
When I put in the browser like localhost/example/default.aspx , instead of the page getting displayed I am getting the whole code displayed in text form in browser.
I also tried to install ngallery a readymade gallery application and I get the same code displayed in browser.
Please help in getting started.
