  2. I just typed seinfeld newman kramer risk into Google and it was the 4th result. :)
  3. No, it is running vB2 for now. It will be upgraded to vB3 in the future. That's not in vB2. Because they are green emoticons? You have to specify how old you want the threads listed on the index to be (at the bottom of the index). Right now the people at iNET are planning to fix up the site. I can't give any specifics (mainly because I haven't got much info about it at all), but I do know that iNET is working on it now. As far as I know, the two forums (EDNF, EVBF) will look similar.
  4. Everyone should have the MSDN on their computer anyway. I really don't see a need for a sticky topic about it.
  5. Maybe you should search for something related. Such as Socket AND Address or something.
  6. It won't happen, as nice as that would be. Every time you make a post, the words are indexed so that the forum can search faster. Right now it only indexes words 4 chars and greater. If we made it 3 we would have to both reindex the entire forum for searching (tremendous load on the server) and it would also have to index a boat load of small words like "for" "the" etc. It's too big of a weight on the server. However, once this forum is upgraded to vB 3.0, it is possible to assign a list of words to index regardless of lengths (such as COM, OLE, etc).
  7. Congrats! Very well deserved. :)
  8. If I recall correctly, there was a Security forum when this site was first created, but it was removed because it wasn't posted in once.
  9. Unless there is an overwhelming demand for a particular subject, no new forums will be created. We like to keep the forum index as compact as possible.
  10. Sorry, not going to happen. Having a forum for this is not only unnecessary, but it would just lead to hurt feelings and insults being thrown around.

  12. The Pocket PC is a "mini PC" but it does not run the same applications as desktop PCs. There are (rather expensive) tablet PCs which you can get which are larger than Pocket PCs, but can run real Windows apps. I'm sure there is a PDF viewer for the Pocket PC, you just can't use the Win98/ME/2K/XP one. And yes, it is usually a good idea to have a few 64-128MB flash cards on hand. These machines are quite a lot more powerful than PalmPC's.
  13. You've got to develop your apps on the desktop computer (VS.NET 2003 with Compact Framework) and then either test them on the emulator or transfer them to the PocketPC to test them. You won't find an IDE for the PPC itself.
  14. "Hide Advanced Members" is already a feature, and it's on by default. I hate it. I spent hours trying to figure out how to load a Graphics object from an hDC, only to find I *had* been looking in the right spot, but Intellisense was hiding 'FromHDC' from me. I thought I was missing a library or something... Anyway, VB.NET truly is the .NET "beginners" language as far as I'm concerned. After getting a good grip on the language, I think most people will probably find C# far better. I still use VB.NET for some things, but for large-ish projects, I use C#.
  15. Yes, all the members and posts will remain the same.
  16. We will also be getting a shiny new skin for the forum. Before you ask, none of us (the staff) know what it looks like. ;)
  17. Inet Interactive has been dragging their feet in regards to fixing the site up, but hopefully something will take place soon. The wheels are in motion as we speak.
  18. I think you can do it with 'Display Properties -> Advanced -> Adapter -> List All Modes'
  19. I think of "Folder" as being the actual object which represents the group of files, and "Directory" as being the list of files itself. "Directory" is still correct in either case, I believe.
  20. Despite what you may or may not use this information for, this forum can be read be anyone, even script kiddies looking to make a trojan. The last thing we want to do here is help a script kiddie develop yet another malicious keylogger, and so this thread is closed to further postings. Apologies for any inconvenience.
  21. Zero times three is still zero. ;)
  22. There is a DirectX forum. It's inside the Graphics forum. A games forum is not needed. All aspects of game programming can be broken down into other categories.

  24. The reason to move from XP to Longhorn is to move into new (.NET) territory, since Longhorn will be heavily integrated with .NET. I believe Microsoft has said the change will be comparable to the move from DOS -> Windows, and from Win3.1 -> Win95.
