<I think the "restrictions" are working>

Alright alright I know, fools from google will come here spamming this forum for invites. Oh well. (Admins, watch the number of members on this forum triple!;)) Anyways, with that aside, who wants gmail? I didn't want to be too mean to the forum owners, so I decided to come up with a little system to prevent googlers from spamming this forum. You must be a "long time" registered member. Aka, if I see you registered today, on the day of this post, then no, bye. (Heh, sorry to ye who registered today and happened to find this post). I got 3 invites. Googlers (or any guys using search engines to come across this post for that matter), don't bother. -The Pentium Guy

Using Graphics object in another class
ThePentiumGuy replied to ThePentiumGuy's topic in Graphics and Multimedia
Oh. Good point ;). "gfx = Me.CreateGraphics()" I'll give that a try. Thanks. Yep. Right there in my bin folder. The error was some Invalid Argument error. I'll give what you said a try (computer with .net doesn't have internet). -The Pentium Guy Edit: Wow. WYS is NOT WYG. I typed the post in normal characters and somehow it got to italics. -
Hey, Is there a way to use ur Graphics object in another class? For example, I've done something like public class Gameclass Public shared gfx as Graphics Public Sub Paint(e as painteventargs) gfx = e.graphics gfx.drawimage("etc...") <-- this line works ... but end sub end class Public class clsSomething Public sub Paint() gameclass.gfx.drawimage("etc...") <-- this one doesn't. End Sub End class Oh btw, i'm getting the graphics by going to form1_paint: myGameClass.Paint(e) I'm getting an argument error (In clsSomething.Paint), although I'm using the exact same arguments for DrawImage in GameClass as well as clsSomething. What's going on? I just want to be able to draw from other classes (preferably from the graphics object in GameClass). Or should I take another route and use AddHandler in GameClass to do the same, if so - can you please remind me how to use it? Heh I need to brush up my AddHandler skills. -The Pentium Guy -The Pentium Guy

Yep. It's myButton.Image (or myButton.Picture). I'm sure you can put almost anything you want. BMP JPG PNG GIF (not sure about animating GIF) TIF. -TPG

Hehe, people usualyl only install windows on those HD's (and install programs on their slower, 7200 RPM hdd's). It's mainly a windows-drive I guess (for much faster boot times and stuff). -TPG

Heh, yeah I hate that. Stupid fools need guidance in everything. Some guy robbed a house, and went to the garage. He closed the door behind him, and it locked. So he tried using the garage door. Apparently the thing wasn't working. He got stuck in the garage for 3 days, starved. After the people came back (from vacation or something), they found him and arrested him. After getting out of jail, the guy sued the garage door company (apparently) for malfunctioning garage door openers. He won. Go figure, -The Pentium Guy

Oh I know that ;P. I'm just saying we should (if it's OK with you admins) make the default from The Beginning. -The Pentium Guy -
getting a charachter to always face the direction they are traveling
ThePentiumGuy replied to fguihen's topic in DirectX
Hey, All you have to do is simply rotate the character. d3ddev.transform.world = MapMatrix RenderMap() d3ddev.transfrom.world = matrix.rotation(Matrix.Multiply(characterPosition, characterRotation)) RenderCharacter The characterRotation matrix wuold be some Matrix.RotationYawPitchandRoll matrix and the characterPosition would be some Matrix.Translation matrix. I'm not 100% sure if it's: Matrix.Multiply(characterPosition, characterRotation) or Matrix.Multiply(characterRotation, characterPosition) I'm assuming, since you said that the camera is always fixed that your view matrix is a matrix.lookatLH or RH with a constant camreaPosition CamreaTarget and cameraTarget. -The Pentium Guy -

Heheheh yeah you gotta hate those timers. I wish there was some way you can use the timers that you use in C++ (can't remember the name), it was in winmm.dll. See if you can find a wrapper for that. -The Pentium Guy

Hey, In my opinion we really need to change the default cutoff date to "The Beginning". I mean look in Random Thoughts for example. There's like 4 posts there in total because the default cutoff date is 1 month. It really makes the forum dull. -The Pentium Guy

Username Help Needed
ThePentiumGuy replied to Richard Crist's topic in Suggestions, Bugs, and Comments
Try signing on with the same username/password combination on this site as you would in xvb. -The Pentium Guy -
Check out my site while you're at it: www.vbprogramming.8k.com - Plenty of tutorials to get you started into Game Programming. You could either use GDI+ or Direct3D. If you're really new I wouldn't venture into Direct3d/DirectDraw just yet, try to make a game in GDI+ first. -The Pentium Guy

WHAT? Can't they just release a damn framework upgrade for this (For 2003), it's not like we're all rich and we can afford buying .NET almost every year.
