Hi, I just have an English question because my En is not good. One form in my application needs to run as admin, while my whole application does not! However, when user wants to open that form and application is not run as admin I want to show user a message: Application is invoker while SystemToolsMenu needs administrator rights. Do you want to run it anyway? Anyone can help me make the above sentence better? Thanks :)

I am having trouble setting up my local home network for remote debugging a surface tablet. Ping requests to all the local addresses (192.168.1.*) except the adsl-modem-wifi-router get timed out. A ideas how to get the network working?

I know that surface tablets will have two flavors: ARM and Intel. But will both be able to run Visual Studio? I know Intel based tabs will but what about ARM tabs?

I know this seems a silly thing to ask about out of the blue, so I guess I should explain a little further. I am a hard core VB6 programmer. I've had over ten years to transition to .Net and I've been fighting such a transition all that time. I have written a little C++.Net and ASP.Net code but mostly I've been successful at avoiding having to rewrite all my VB6 code to .Net. Now it's 2012, and VS.Net has to be considered a "mature" programming environment. Recently I got asked by a friend, who is the owner of a small to medium size business, about moving his VB6 code (for a large document repository management software for millions of documents) to .Net. Of…

Please excuse if this procedure is documented elsewhere on the forum, but I didn't find it after doing some searching.. VisualStudio.Net C++ 2010 Express doesn't come with the MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class) libraries and headers, per the chart on this MSDN Page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hs24szh9.aspx I had some old VisualStudio.Net C++ Professional 32 bit code I needed to load into the 2010 (using 32bit CLR) and build (that had MFC references). So it's not a 32bit to 64 bit CLR upgrade, just 32 bit to 32 bit. Note: I know even 32 bit CLR stuff involves wow64, per this MSDN entry: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241064.aspx Anyw…

Any thoughts on whether this will be a success or a flop? I was only 6 or 7 when my brother had one. Just seeing it on the website takes me back. I don't know if I can indulge in one for these prices. I think it's a pretty cool idea, but I think it's too pricey to have as a second system to just goof around with. Do you think there is a market that exists for this type of nostalgia at these prices? http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_C64.aspx

HI im new to VB.NET. Im working on a video streaming project. I want to know a way i could view the streaming videos in a vb.net application. Streaming servers are already running. for example: I can view the streaming videos from VLC player by putting the IP and the port of the server. I want to do the same in my application. Does anyone have an idea on how i can do this. Thanks..:)

I've got a software idea. It's too big to complete by myself. But I can write code and I know the subject matter of the software very well. I'm thinking of approaching companies that could market it to work with them. I'm thinking of an arrangement where they pay me royalties for the idea and I work for them at the same time, developing the idea, on a regular salary. Do people do this sort of thing in practice? I'd be interested to hear if you know of any examples of this, and how they've worked out. Thanks.

I was at some Visual studio training at an academic conference a while back. The professor presenting the training got the third degree from others for not using Java. Is there a language war like Mac versus PC? I tell my students to be ready to adapt to your organization and not get locked in to one language. Am I wrong?
